T-Wallet deals to get cheaper

In case of the various private wallets in the market, users are not being charged.

Hyderabad: Loading money into T-Wallet will not burn holes in your pocket in a few days from now. A leading bank responded to the state government’s call to charge nominal rates for the third party payment gateway aggregator.

An officials at the information department said that people need not worry about gateway charges since modalities are being worked out with a bank, whose name they would be revealing once everything is done.

“Until now payment gateway charges used to differ depending upon the amount added from bank account. However, in view of concerns raised by users we told the bankers to consider collecting Rs 5 or Rs10 per transaction instead of charging based on percentage. As the amount loaded increases, the payment gateway charges increase,” the official said.

According to authorities, payment gateway charges are not going into government’s kitty and it is the charge that banks were collecting when users loaded money into wallet.

In case of the various private wallets in the market, users are not being charged because the private wallets were absorbing them and paying to bank instead of burdening the consumer.

It may be mentioned here that many users were highly critical of the transaction charges for loading money, which they felt was unreasonable since other wallets were not doing so.

Also, the information technology department would be implementing the initiative of adding scholarship or aasara pensions into T-Wallet accounts of beneficiaries in two districts and extend the facility later to all districts.
