Facebook testing GIF animated button for comments
Facebook will begin testing a GIF button with a ‘small percentage’ of users that will let them express their views in comment section on the social media website in a more handy way.
In a statement to media, Facebook said, “Everyone loves a good GIF and we know that people want to be able to use them in comments. So we are about to start testing the ability to add GIFs to comments and we’ll share more when we can, but for now we repeat that this is just a test.”
Although the company has not cited any partners to provide GIFs services on the site, it is more likely to come from the libraries of major GIF providers including Giphy and Tenor.
The GIF button is said to work similarly to GIFs function in Facebook’s messaging app, Messenger.
Currently, Facebook users can post GIFs in comment section; however, they require to do take it from Giphy, Tenor, Imgur, or some other GIF service provider, which often turns out to be a tedious process as user has to copy the URLs from the provider and then paste it into a thread.
The new GIFs button is believed to make it all easier for users to post specific reaction in no time.
