For the tech savvy women

Google Developers Group Chennai is hosting an event titled Women Techmakers on March 26, in the city. It is an one-of-its-kind initiative.

Empowering women to pursue their dreams and build tools that change the world,” is one of the visions of Google Developers Group (GDG) Chennai, which will be hosting the Women Techmakers event on March 26, in the city. It is geared towards increasing visibility, participation and resources for women in the technical industry.

The event is mainly intended for pepping up the spirit of women in technology and startups, and the associated arenas. It is also for those who want to learn something new, and to overcome familiar inhibitions and break stereotypical norms.

“We believe that when organisations create the right environment, programmes and policies, women in technology can thrive. GDG Chennai is partnering with Women Techmakers, to launch this one-of-its-kind event in Chennai,” says Karthick Kamalakannan, Manager of GDG Chennai.

The event will include tech talks and panel discussions with technology leaders, networking opportunities, lecture demonstrations and more, for the technically inclined women out there.

“Women Techmakers will also provide guidance for those who want to find alternate careers, and will also include discussions on trending topics such as lifestyle and more,” says Swaathi, one of the organisers. Saradha Ramani, co-founder of Computers International, and Rohini Madhav, founder of Chennai Yoga Studio are some of the speakers who will be present for the summit, to share their insights on women and technology.

The list will also include other successful women from different fields. The event will be held in collaboration with Skcript and Google Developers Group, Chennai at SP Infocity, Perungudi.
