Apple acquires digital health startup Gliimpse

Apple's has always made an effort to provide health-oriented software such as HealthKit, CareKit, and ResearchKit.

Apple has acquired personal health data-monitoring startup Gliimpse, which was founded in 2013 by Indian-origin Anil Sthi and Karthik Hariharan.

A new report by Fast Company indicated that Apple has now acquired the personal health data-collecting start-up to improve Apple’s digital health offerings.

Sethi’s Linkedin profile showed that he had earlier worked in Apple as a systems engineer from 1988 to 90. He had founded Gliimpse with a simple idea that everyone should be able to manage their health records, and share them securely.

Apple’s has always made an effort to provide health-oriented software such as HealthKit, CareKit, and ResearchKit. With the new acquisition, the company plans to strengthen its health-oriented software offerings.

Although there has been no official announcement from any of the parties, Apple had disclosed the information to Fast Company. This is not the first time Apple has brought small technology companies to boost its own offerings.
