Siri helps four-year-old boy save his mother's life

Apple's voice assistant Siri helped four-year-old Roman call emergency services.

Apple’s voice assistant Siri has reportedly helped a four-year-old boy save his mother’s life. The incident took place on March 7 at their home in Kenley, Croydon.

According to a report published by The Daily Mail, Roman’s mother collapsed at home after which, he unlocked his mother’s iPhone using her thumb and with the help of Siri called the 999 emergency services.

During the call, the boy told the operator that he thought his mother had died because “she was closing her eyes and not breathing.” The operator guided Roman, asking him to shake his mother. In the meantime, the research team located Roman’s address on the basis of the conversation.

Thirteen minutes later, officers arrived at Roman’s home. They discovered Roman’s mother lying unconscious on the floor and the paramedics were successfully able to bring her back to consciousness. After which, she was taken to the hospital.

"Hearing this call brings home the importance of teaching your young child their home address and how to call police or emergency services in an emergency situation," Met Police Chief Superintendent Ade Adelekan said.

"If you do nothing else today, then I'd implore any parents of young children to sit down with them and make sure they know what to do in this kind of situation and that they know how to contact police or other emergency services in an emergency. As this case demonstrates so poignantly, it could really be the difference between life and death."
