Techie's equipment gets laud from Transport Minister A K Saseendran
KOZHIKODE: A Bangalore-based IT expert from Kozhikode has developed a unique equipment which alerts the police about a traffic rule breach from the vehicle itself. The equipment, which is named ‘Automatic Traffic Violation Recorder,’ can inform about the traffic violation by the vehicle user to the authorities directly through email and can also send an SMS to the violator.
The technology has been developed by Sanuj C, a native of Payyoli, who is working as a system administrator with a private firm. The equipment was also praised by Transport Minister A.K Saseendran and transport commissioner Tomin J Thachankary during a demo presentation held at Thiruvananthapuram on Thursday.
Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, Sanuj said that the equipment could identify violations including those related to speed limit, one-way traffic, wrong signals and no parking zone. “The equipment, which can be installed easily in the vehicle cannot use any user modification and is equipped with anti-theft technology. If the user tries to tamper with the tool, it sends info to the authorities and can be used again only after authorized persons unlock it,” he said.
The vehicle sends signals to the authorities only after a time limit so that the vehicle user can rectify his mistake if he did it by mistake. “Once approved, the equipment required less than Rs 1000 for installation. The equipment works in such a way that, when a violation occurs, it senses the signal emitting from the electronic device fitted on the signboards or structures and then sends it to the main system of the Police or Motor Vehicle Department,” Sanuj added.
