There have been rumours of a One Plus 3 variant that has been doing the rounds recently. Now fresh reports have suggested that the new variant will apparently be called OnePlus 3T, and it is expected to sport a different processor than the OnePlus 3.
Smartphone website PhoneRadar has claimed that the new variant will be called OnePlus 3T. It also states that the smartphone will have a 2.4GHz Snapdragon 821 chipset, instead of the 2.15GHz SD 820 seen on the OnePlus 3. Performance improvements are by 10 percent overall because of these changes.
If one can recall, OnePlus had given up on its X-series and confirmed that it will focus on releasing only one flagship smartphone a year so as to do full justice to the OnePlus quality and brand image. However, this new variant is a shift from that thought, and it isn’t even a significant enough upgrade on paper as of now. However, still more details are to be found so OnePlus may introduce more changes on launch day, so we will have to wait till that happens.
The report has also stated that the OnePlus 3T will also sport the same design and metal unibody as the OnePlus 3, and will also come with the Dash Charge technology embedded. Another change is that the device is said to run on the latest Android 7.0 Nougat-based OxygenOS out-of-the-box.
The actual release date has not been announced. There we rumours about a mini OnePlus 3 in the works but co-founder Carl Pei later confirmed that those rumors were baseless.
