Fully autonomous Teslas are getting more real. The electric carmaker recently announced that all new vehicles will now come with intrinsic hardware to support “full self driving capabilities,” and the company also posted a video showing exactly what that hardware can do.
However, the software has not been finished installing yet and has yet to get an approval from the regulators, but the four-minute clip is a sneak peek into how autonomous cars will behave in the future.
The video shows a Tesla leaving a garage, driving across the city, and finding its own parking spot — all autonomously. There is someone in the driver’s seat, but that is because of regulations and legal requirements, but they never touch the wheel. Tesla CEO, Elon Musk has stated that the car is even smart to drive past a disabled parking spot, knowing it is not allowed to park there.
All of this technology is a long way off from being implemented, but it still becomes exciting that you can have a fully autonomous vehicle at your fingertips.
