FB Messenger allows you to chat with up to 50 users at the same time

Facebook Messenger has launched its own split-screen group video chat feature.

Social media giant Facebook announces the launch of its new feature on the Messenger app that allows users to perform group video calls with up to 50 participants.

Users can appear in split-screen at the time and don Snapchat-style selfie masks, while a total of 50 users can listen, talk, and send texts using stickers, emojis and GIFs. “For the first six participants, the app will stream everyone’s camera feed to one another in a grid-like view. After six, Messenger will display only the dominant speaker’s feed,” reported The Verge.

Facebook frames it as “perfect for those spontaneous moments where text just isn’t enough.” The latest video chat feature started rolling out globally yesterday on iOS, Android and desktops. However, Android will have to wait for the MSQRD-powered selfie masks. It is free on Wi-Fi but standard data charges will apply on cellular connections.
