Apple iPhone 6s bursts into flames

Apple has started a recall of iPhone 6s devices which were manufactured between September - December 2015

After the Note 7 fiasco with Samsung that saw hundreds of thousands of Note 7 devices across the world being recalled, an Apple iPhone 6s has burst into flames which burst into flames after it was plugged in.

According to the report, the iPhone 6s’ owner left his phone plugged in, but it started emitting smoke only when it was disconnected from the charger. The iPhone the caught fire and the owner dropped it to the ground to avoid any possible injuries.

Overheating is a normal phenomenon during charging, and most phones tend to get warm when plugged in, but unless there is a hardware issue, fire should not occur.

Apple has already started initiating the recall of the iPhone 6s after it was discovered that some of the batteries were defective in some units which caused them to shut down prematurely. The company originally said that only models manufactured between September and October 2015 were affected, but it’s now believed that more units could actually come with the same battery.

On the other hand, Cupertino claimed this wasn’t a safety issue and although batteries were indeed defective, no fire should occur.

“Apple has determined that a very small number of iPhone 6s devices may unexpectedly shut down. This is not a safety issue and only affects devices within a limited serial number range that were manufactured between September and October 2015,” Apple said.

An investigation should probably be started soon, as Apple primarily gets in touch with owners experiencing such incidents very quickly. But there is still scope for new details which may emerge from the Cupertino Company.
