Huawei announces Kirin 960 processor

The new Kirin 960 processor uses four 2.4GHz Cortex-A73 cores and four 1.8GHz Cortex-A53 cores.

Huawei has officially unveiled its latest processor Kirin 960 designed to debut on company’s next flagship presumably Honor Mate 9.

The new Kirin 960 processor uses four 2.4GHz Cortex-A73 cores and four 1.8GHz Cortex-A53 cores. It supports ARM Mali-G71MP8 for improved graphic and gaming performance, four component carriers (4CC) for LTE, Cat.12 LTE for download, and Cat.13 for uploads.

Kirin 960 processor also uses CCI-550 for an improved memory bandwidth compared to its predecessor CCI-440 design and a low-powered i6 sensing core.

Since Huwaei has not so far announced any of its latest smartphones powered by the Kirin 960 processor, rumours suggest Huawei Honor Mate 9 will be the first one to have it onboard, expected to be unveiled on November 3 in Germany this year.
