Unique Identification Authority of India or UIDAI has officially launched an app called ‘mAadhaar,’ that will allow users to carry their Aadhaar cards on their smartphones. User’s personal details including name, date of birth, gender and address can now be encompassed in the app. The app is only available for Android platforms as of now, with an iOS version in the making.
"LAUNCHING #mAadhaar- Carry your Aadhaar on your Mobile. The android app from UIDAI is now available on Google Play," a tweet from Aadhaar's verified account stated.
The app is reportedly still in its beta stage. Therefore, certain services will only be applicable after subsequent updates. Apart from this, the app carries a special biometric feature that can be used to secure personal data as well. The app will remain locked until the user himself, enables the system.
