Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Electoral Officer's office has entered into a collaboration with Facebook to increase voter engagement and participation in this year’s elections to Kerala assembly. As part of this, Facebook will promote a reminder in people’s newsfeed on May 15 to help educate people and encourage them to cast their votes.
The reminder which follows a similar format used in the UK, the US and Canada will run in conjunction with the Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation (SWEEP) campaign of the CEO. E. K. Majhi, the CEO, said the slogan of ECI for the current election will be ‘No Voter to be Left Behind.'
Mr Majhi said the collaboration with social media especially Facebook would help address apathy among urban youth for voting. "This would ensure greater participation, making our democracy stronger," he said.
