Google releases updates to prevent phishing attacks on G Suite

A warning screen with authentication now assures users that malicious accounts are not getting access to your Google account.

Earlier this year, a phishing attack on Google Docs tricked people to gain unauthorised access to their Google accounts. This led Google to work on enhancing the security of its services for a secure ecosystem, which is why they have rolled out an improved security layer for all users of its Google accounts.

Users will be warned of a website or app with malicious intentions to gain access to a user’s account details. If a website or a web app is trying to gain access to your account despite being unverified, a warning message will be shown with a red exclamation mark. If you wish to go ahead with the link, you have to click on ‘Advanced’ and type ‘continue’ to gain access to that website.

The warning will be activated for those web apps that don’t comply with Google’s authorization system, which utilises security tokens instead of passwords to be compatible with third party apps. Google plans to roll out the warning system for new apps initially followed by existing web apps.
