Hyderabad: Child sexual abuse is more mentally scarring than physical, say psychologists. A Bal Suraksha app was launched on November 17 in line with the year-long campaign against child sexual abuse by the state police. The app was developed jointly by CDAC Hyderabad, Unicef, Telangana police and Enfold Trust.
The app is available in 11 languages and ins-tructs parents, doctors, lawyers and others about their responsibilities towards children and the legal action that can be taken against perpetrators. Similarly, children can type in their questions regarding personal safety and the app also teaches them about the complaint mechanisms available. The TS police asked citizens to be alert regarding child sexual abuse and instructed parents to listen to their children when they complain about anyone.
