TCL becomes the associate sponsor of Karnataka Premier League 2019

The latest edition of KPL is scheduled to commence in Bangalore on August 16 and conclude with the grand finale on August 31 in Mysore.

Reaffirming its consistent efforts to uplift the local sports talent in India and shaping them into legends of the future, TCL Electronics, the global top-2 TV Corporation and a leading consumer electronics company, is participating as the associate sponsor for the 8th edition of the Karnataka Premier League (KPL). The latest edition of KPL is scheduled to commence in Bangalore on August 16 and conclude with the grand finale on August 31 in Mysore.

Managed by Karnataka State Cricket Association, KPL is the first local cricket league in India based on Indian Premier League (IPL) that aims to bring out the best cricketing talent from the state of Karnataka. Since its first season which commenced in 2009, the league has held 7 editions in total where Bijapur Bulls managed to win the trophy twice.

Young cricketing talents like Pavan Deshpande, Aniruddha Joshi, Jonathan Rongsen, Vinay Kumar, Praveen Dubey, and V Koushik, among others are some of the top performers of KPL’s previous edition. In its 8th edition, the tournament will see seven top teams from Karnataka – Bengaluru Blasters, Mysuru Warriors, Hubli Tigers, Bellary Tuskers, Belagavi Panthers, Shivamogga Lions, and Bijapur Bills – locking horns with each other.

Through this sponsorship, TCL is extending much-needed support and exposure to local sports talent while also underlining its strong India focus. The two-week long tournament gives young regional players a platform to showcase their cricketing talent while gaining an opportunity to play for both IPL and the Indian cricket team.

The KPL partnership is yet another milestone in TCL’s ongoing mission to promote sports and nurture emerging talent in India. It all began with its association with global football icon Neymar Jr., who signed up as the company’s Global Brand Ambassador. Bringing the celebrated Brazilian on board helped TCL raise mass awareness about and interest in football across the country.

TCL followed up on this achievement in blockbuster style by becoming the team sponsor for Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League. In the meantime, TCL also partnered with ESPN to launch a special video series titled ‘Born a Legend’. The series features cricketer Kuldeep Yadav, who overcame tremendous struggles and rejections to establish himself as the world’s top orthodox leg spinning sensation. Through such powerful personal stories from the world of sports, TCL aims to inspire and motivate millions of future sports legends to follow their passion with the utmost dedication.

TCL India Managing Director, Mike Chen said, “In India, sport is more than just a recreational activity. It is a passion for millions of individuals. The country is home to a large number of talented sportspersons who, with proper guidance and exposure, can sharpen their skills to represent India on the international -level. Our latest association with KPL is aligned with this vision of transforming India into a global sports powerhouse. Going forward, we will look to explore more such associations and create newer avenues to promote sports in India while giving young, talented individuals the opportunity to excel in the world of sports.”

The aforementioned initiatives highlight TCL’s consistent focus, communication and commitment towards developing a strong sports ecosystem in India, in addition to providing Indian customers with access to cutting-edge electronic products. Its KPL association also taps into the synergies that TCL shares with the blockbuster tournament as a pioneering global consumer electronics company with a legacy of over 38 years.
