Samsung eyes a greener planet by recycling recalled Note 7 units

The Korean technology giant aims to lighten the effect of the global recall by recycling as much of recalled Note 7s as possible.

You must have been tired of reading about the Samsung Galaxy Note 7’s fiasco last year and all of the PR hype about trying to make the recall put a lesser strain on mother earth. There’s a new announcement regarding the Note 7; this time it’s about the components that Samsung plans to recycle from the millions of recalled Note 7s lying in its warehouses.

The latest announcement from Samsung states that the company aims to recover and recycle around 157 tonnes of rare metals like copper, cobalt and even gold from the circuit boards of the wasted Note 7 units. Apart from the metal, the recalled Note 7 units will also donate AMOLED display modules (one of the most desired components by smartphone manufacturers these days), memory chips and its brilliant camera module for use in other devices.

The Galaxy Note Fan Edition helped Samsung utilise the unsold units of the Galaxy Note 7 after the fiasco took place. If Samsung achieves what it intends to, then it will be a global example of how to handle an IT mayhem without bothering mother nature. We all know that apart from the faulty battery, the Note 7 was a brilliant smartphone with one of the best display units, one of the best camera modules and one of the best build quality a smartphone has ever seen. Therefore, any lower-end device that gets its supply of parts from the recycling department of Samsung should be a gadget to reckon.
