A selfie-friendly app

Devices supporting Apple's iOS operating system are currently experimented on with the eye-tracking system.

You are posing for a snap but the way you strike a perfect eye-contact with that paraphernalia that goes ‘click, click’ sounds not easy as a pie, unless you are that camera-friendly or a selfie lover. The eons old man-machine mystery has been remaining unsolved so far. Finally that has got an answer with a simple app developed by the researchers at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). The app works in tandem with the mobile phone camera. The Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory and the University of Georgia are behind this mystery-buster.

“The application flashes a small dot somewhere on the device’s screen, attracting the user’s attention, then briefly replaces it with either an “R” or an “L,” instructing the user to swipe either the right or left side of the screen. Correctly executing the swipe ensures that the user has actually shifted his or her gaze to the intended location,” MIT News explains the mode of operation of the app. The camera goes clicking continuously in the process.
