AMD RX 470 has killer graphics

AMD has hit the sweet spot for all those who are looking for a killer graphics card.

With the new RX 470, AMD has hit the sweet spot for all those who are looking for a killer graphics card which can run the most demanding of games at 1080p/60 FPS at ultra-settings.

The PowerColor AMD RX 470 Red Devil GPU comes with 4 GB of GDDR5 VRAM and a boost clock of 1270 Mhz. The new Polaris 10 card comes with a full suite of display options to choose from, with one HDMI, one DVI and 3 Display ports, so your multi-monitor setups are well covered. Moreover, PowerColor has managed to put a very good cooler on the RX 470 as the card never went beyond 65 degrees Celsius even under full load while running the Unigine Heaven benchmark test at 2K at full settings. The Red Devil 470 comes with an 8 pin power connector and draws only 138W under load. This is a true testament to the efficiency that AMD has been able to achieve with their Polaris architecture.

Power consumption and thermals aside, where the RX 470 truly shines is how well it handles the latest games especially at 1080p. The system that the card was benchmarked on had an i7 6700, 16GB of DDR4 RAM, and an ADATA SP600 SSD. There is no denying the superiority of AMD. With DirectX 12, in games like Tomb Raider and Ashes of the Singularity, the 470 clocked in 31 and 29 frames per second, finishing just behind the 480 and a little behind the 1060. In games like The Witcher 3 and The Division, the RX 470 again managed to throw out excellent frame rates with the games at ultra presets, clocking 44 and 58 frames per second respectively.

The RX 470 checks every box that any gamer wants from a card in the sub Rs 19,000 price bracket. While the official Indian price for the PowerColor Red Devil RX 470 is yet to be announced, it will most certainly be below the 20K mark to stay out of X 480’s price bracket.
