Kozhikode Hackathon throws up innovative ideas
KOZHIKODE: From a mobile application that brings the public to direct contact with the government without the interference of a third party, water management website to a one-stop platform for building a house, the ideas that emerged after a 24-hour hackathon were galore. Government Cyber Park for the first time played the host to bring together several startup prodigies from across the country for the hackathon that offered the best with an incubation space at the park.
The event aimed at showcasing the human resource potential of northern Kerala and positioning Kozhikode as the new destination for innovation and entrepreneurship witnessed the presentation of amazing ideas developed within the deadline. A mobile application developed by TCS team from Ernakulam received a special mention from the panellist consisting of 25 CEOs of prominent IT companies in the state.
“More than taking the concept to the business or marketing level, our mission was to develop an app within a day that could make it easier for the public to contact the Government and take up their issues, major or minor,” said Harsh, a team member. "We used the latest technology to make the app. It is not that easy to tie up with the government but in practical terms we can implement it as government itself is getting an opportunity to know the worries of citizens in just a click away."
