Porn is good, at least in this case

Posting porn on unwanted' Twitter accounts could be one way of pulling them down.

Well, if you are wondering about the headline, stop thinking right now. No—we don’t mean that porn is good—though some may believe the other way. In this case, porn is being used by a hacker to stop terrorism.

In a recent attack of a gay nightclub in Orlando that left 49 people dead, a hacker seems to have taken matters in his own hands. According to a report by CNN Money, a hacker by the name of WauchulaGhost has been breaching Twitter accounts of ISIS terrorists and replacing their jihad-related content with pornography to offend the ISIS.

"You had all those innocent lives lost. I just felt there's something I could do against the Islamic State to defend those people," he told CNN Money in an interview. He takes over the accounts of ISIS and replaces their flags with rainbows and gay couples embracing each other and directs messages to its follows to create confusion. He would even have casual, normal conversations with the ISIS’ Twitter followers and finally reveal to them that they are not communicating with ISIS, but him, the ghost.

ISIS uses the social media to spread its messages around the world. To counter this wildfire-like spread of terrorism through the social media platform, hackers are now taking matters into their own hands. They are operating illegally to take down terrorist content.

CNN Money also reported that WauchulaGhost has been receiving death threats from ISIS members. He identifies himself as part of the hacking collective Anonymous and has also been part of a hacktivist group Ghost Security Group. He claims to be a part-time hacker, who works during the day and hacks by night. So far, he says, he has managed to take over almost 250 Twitter accounts that are associated with ISIS members and has replaced their content with porn and gay pride messages. He criticises social media companies such as Twitter, who is not active enough to shut down such accounts. However, Twitter has claimed that around 125,000 ISIS and terrorism-related accounts have been suspended last year.

WauchulaGhost claims that he can hack into a Twitter account in less than 60 seconds (once he has the necessary information to break in). He plans to replace porn images with something else in future, but for now, he has been getting enough feedback from people who are supporting his cause.

"Sometimes you have to stand up for what you believe in. If you want change, you have to make that change, even if it means doing something illegal," he said.
