Starbucks, McDonald's won't allow porn anymore
Watching porn at Starbucks and Mcdonald’s may soon be a thing of the past, as both Starbucks and McDonalds had decided to add porn-blocking filters in store Wi-Fi.
Earlier this week, anti-pornography group Enough is Enough and the National Centre on Sexual Exploitation discovered that McDonald’s had already put filters at most of its US and UK restaurants this year. Following which, the group appealed to Starbucks to follow McDonald’s lead.
In a statement to CNN, Starbucks said, ‘Once we determine that our customers can access our free Wi-Fi in a way that also doesn't involuntarily block unintended content, we will implement this in our stores.’
‘In the meantime, we reserve the right to stop any behavior that interferes with our customer experience, including what is accessed on our free Wi-Fi,’ they added.
The anti-pornography groups praised the global chains for making customers protection a priority that use their Wi-Fi.
‘This is a huge victor. We're proud of Starbucks and McDonald's for stepping up to the plate. Internet pornography is a public health crisis. Parents need to know which family restaurants are safe from online threats,’ Donna Rice Hughes, president of Enough is Enough, said Donna Rice Hughes, president of Enough is Enough.
