Sea of thieves' new content

Hopefully, Sea of Thieves can get their act together fast, otherwise even Xbox Game Pass won't be able to keep their numbers up.

Sea of Thieves released amid a tempest of promise and hype wherein the developers were keen to cash in on a game that promised us swashbuckling action on the high seas and a mesmerising world just itching to be explored.

What the game ended up as however was something completely different. Apart from the beautiful water physics and texturing (believe me I have never seen water recreated in such a game ever), the game had little more to offer. With a lackluster and repetitive story, similar grindy missions and very little ship variety on launch, the game quickly came under fire from the community for being nothing more than a silly cash grab attempt.

Naturally, as dedicated players ploughed through the boring early game, the tedious mid game, they discovered to their utmost dismay, that Sea of Thieves has no end game what so ever and it’s just one endless grind fest.

This caused the game to lose a massive chunk of the playerbase who were more than happy to return to the current fads of Fortnite and PUBG, both significantly more fleshed out as games and cheaper with the former offering the most popular game mode for free.

Alarmed by the rate at which their playerbase was jumping ship (quite literally), the developers, Rare have introduced a bunch of changes that they hope will bring some of the players back to the sandbox of the open seas.

Upcoming additions will include more regular ‘events’ to keep players engaged as they move towards unlocking their favourite cosmetic gear in game and of course brand new DLC in the form of Hungering Deep. While the name does give it Kraken like vibes, the rumours seem to suggest a massive NPC threat that might force players to work together in order to add a new dynamic to the game.

In addition to these updates we’re also expecting some minor changes to make life easier for Sea of Thieves fans like being able to hand each other times, better loot for higher ranked quests and some form of private match making as well. Hopefully, Sea of Thieves can get their act together fast, otherwise even Xbox Game Pass won’t be able to keep their numbers up.
