Samsung's Oreo update is buggy, rolled back for newer release soon

A week after releasing the Android 8.0 Oreo update for the Galaxy S8 and S8+ smartphones, Samsung has halted the firmware rollout, as per SamMobile. The report says that the South Korean giant pulled back all the firmware files for both the devices from its servers and is working on the development of new firmware files.

The report further said that the Oreo rollout was halted after being released in various markets globally, including Belgium, Germany, France, India, Norway, Turkey, and the UAE.

Samsung has released an official statement explaining the reason behind the sudden suspension of the Android Oreo update. “Following a limited number of cases where Galaxy S8 and S8+ devices have rebooted unexpectedly with the Android 8.0 Oreo, we have temporarily stopped the rollout of the update. We are investigating the issue internally to ensure that the impact to the affected devices is minimized and the rollout of the update can resume as quickly as possible,” the company said.

Moreover, currently, the G950/G955-FXXU1CRAP Android 8.0 firmware files are not available for download. SamMobile says that the new Oreo build is expected to be available for download soon. Also, if a user has downloaded the update and has not installed it yet, then the downloaded files will be deleted from the handset.
