Instagram's loophole makes the biggest stars on social media to go viral
The new loophole found in social media app ‘Instagram’ has enabled the stars on the social media to get many followers. These stars are mainly social media personality and some of them are also actors.
If anyone geotags their photos with ‘Singapore, Singapore’ even if they haven’t visited that place or they are not currently present at that place, they get a lot of followers. This loophole was used by King Bach (11.3 million Instagram followers), Lele Pons (11.6 million followers), Dan Bilzerian (20 million followers), and Logan Paul (7.7 million followers) who are stated as ‘King of Instagram’.
The loophole was found by Taylor Lorenz, head of social media at The Daily Mail and according to her these ‘King of Instagram’ have tried the hack in recent weeks, but they are unable to verify why this hack works or where it started.
Some people suspect that it has to do with the fact that Instagram may not have rolled out its algorithmic timeline update (which influencers initially opposed) in select Asian countries, including Singapore. By temporarily geotagging their posts there, they believe they can jump to the top of users’ feeds more easily. But contradicting to this suggestion is that Instagram actually released its new algorithm-based feed in Singapore in April.
"You keep Singapore up for 12 hours, then you change it," said one verified Instagram user. "It's fully ridiculous and dumb, but it works. I'm not sure why or if it's just because it's become a meme, but the 'Singapore, Singapore' posts do way better. It 100% works."
Instagram didn’t comment on this hack and some users also believe the trick allows posts to end up on Instagram's Explore page, therefore reaching more users.
