After Gmail, Google Chrome ready to receive major redesign

The search giant has been reportedly keen on the job of rolling out new updates and features to the Chrome web browser.

Google Chrome is one of the most successful and popular web browsers and it doesn’t seem like it will lose that 'crown' anytime soon. The search giant has been reportedly keen on the job of rolling out new updates and features to the Chrome.

Chrome will reportedly follow the suit of Gmail and will go through a major 'Material Design' overhaul, bringing new features on-board along with some major design modifications. The good news here is — some new changes have already landed in the Chrome's nightly 'Canary' build and the redesigned Chrome is currently available for Windows, Linux, and Chrome OS that enables the new Material Design UI by default. Do note that Canary is an experimental version of Chrome which has the latest features in development. The program is designed for developers and early adopters — so it comes with its own risks. Furthermore, the software could crash anytime and you may encounter a few bugs.

According to Engadget, the redesign chrome comes with a new address bar, refreshed tab shapes and colours.

"Chromium Evangelist Francois Beaufort also mentions omnibox suggestion icons, tab strip colouring, pinned tabs and alert indicators in his announcement of the update," the report stated. "Plenty of things have been updated for the better in my opinion," he says, although it will likely take Chrome fans a while to get used to the new set up.
