Pay via Facebook

After person-to-person payment option, Facebook Messenger has now enabled group payment facility for its users in the US.

Since enabling person-to-person payment option, Facebook Messenger is further making things simple as it has got a group payment facility in it. Announced just recently, the feature works for private and group chats in the US on Android or Desktop.

Move to the bottom left corner of your chat box. Hit the plus sign over there. Click the payments icon and you are ready to go. Select who you want to send or request money from. Feed in the amount or divide it evenly. Mention the purpose. It’s done. Finally, a message pops up in the group conversation showing who has made the payment.

Techcrunch observes payment channels on Messenger are crucial in the wake of Snapchat and WeChat already having in-app payments. It also indicates Kik’s intentions to be in the game. Techcrunch rewinds how Facebook, had described in the past that it was “not building a payments business.”

In an official blog post of Facebook, Partha Sundaram, product manager for consumer payments, gives an assurance regarding safety features: “As always in Messenger, you don’t need to remember a password, your debit card information is safe and secure, and the service is totally free.”
