Facebook introduces parent portal to help kids stay safe online
Social networking giant Facebook has launched a portal for parents to help them keep their children safe online.
"To help parents get the most out of their experience and help their child navigate their experience, Facebook has launched the Parent's Portal in collaboration with parents, teens and safety experts around the world," Facebook said in a statement.
The US-based company had recently updated its Safety Center and Bullying Prevention Hub as well.
Parent's Portal includes guides for parents about how Facebook works, tips for talking with kids about staying safe online and resources from experts around the world.
It is available in over 55 languages, including 11 in India. It is mobile friendly and includes step-by-step videos.
"Keeping our community safe is core to everything we do. People will only come to Facebook if it's a safe place to connect and share with the people they care," Facebook Public Policy Director (India, South and Central Asia) Ankhi Das said.
The Parent's Portal responds to feedback Facebook has received about knowledge gap among parents regarding the company's safety policies, tools and resources, she added.
"With the new Safety Centre and Parent's Portal, we worked with safety experts and local partners to develop content that resonates with our community," she said.
The Parent's Portal is accessible at www.facebook.com/safety/parents.
