iOS users have been affected by a strange bug, where watching 15 minutes Youtube is turning into a nightmare for them. Users have taken to social mediums to convey their complaints— some users are reporting that watching a video is resulting into more than 20% loss of battery, while some are experiencing hot devices indicating some real hard push in processing power to render and display those videos, which shouldn't be so.

The issue seems to affect both iPhones and iPads alike. What is not known is whether this issue is on iOS or Youtube app. either way Youtube Team has acknowledged the issue on twitter and “are actively working to fix this”.
In the meantime, if you are suffering from this bug, we advise you to use the browser to view Youtube videos as the issue doesn’t seem to affect direct web playback.
