Instagram now lets users save personal stories, mute others

The new option allows users to save the photos and videos they post to their stories, automatically on the camera roll by default.

Image sharing app Instagram has added another Snapchat-inspired update to its arsenal as the latest version 9.3 adds new options to the app’s ‘Stories’ features.

The new option allows users to save the photos and videos they post to their stories, automatically on the camera roll by default. The other option allows users to mute stories of other users they follow.

For now, the new option cannot be used to save posts on a case-by-case basis like Snapchat. You can either save everything or adhere to the disappearing posts.

The option to mute stories of other people is a welcome option as the numbers of stories that appear on top of the app are too many in number. Also, Instagram offers a wider space than Snapchat.

When a user mutes a particular account’s Instagram story, it is moved to the end of the stories queue. Apart from these new options, the app has also added the ability to pick a colour while adding text to stories, just like Snapchat.

Since the arrival of Instagram stories, it seems the image-sharing platform is trying to emulate most of Snapchat’s features for better user interface and more audience.
