Facebook Messenger expands iPhone 3D Touch feature list

The messenger first received an initial 3D Touch update for Quick Actions from the app icon in December 2015.

Mumbai: With the increasing demand for a better messenger platform, Facebook has been quite busy rolling out new features and updates since 2015. To further enhance the messenger app, the company has enhanced 3D Touch support for Apple’s iPhone 6s and 6s Plus.

The messenger first received an initial 3D Touch update for Quick Actions from the app icon in December 2015 and the new one further augments the platform for iPhone users. With the new update, users can now take a sneak peak in to the app and even access information using the pressure-sensitive touch.

However, users who were expecting to ‘discreetly’ read the content of the message via 3D Touch will be disappointed as it will be shown as ‘seen’. The new update will also allow users to preview conversations, photos, GIFS, videos, and other multimedia content.

Other than that, users can also utilise 3D Touch feature for scrolling through contacts, reading conversations, and checking locations. The new ‘Peek’ gesture requires a slight press, revealing preview information, while the ‘Pop’ feature needs a deeper press for opening the complete content.

Additionally, the latest update for the Messenger for iOS also accompanies a design layout fix for users who are currently testing iOS 10 beta. The latest update to Messenger on iOS also comes with a layout fix for users testing iOS 10 beta.

Messenger is slowly adding new and improved features to its arsenal and it won’t be long before we see a surge in the number of messenger users.

One of the best features in recent times is undoubtedly the Snapchat-like vanishing message feature which will definitely help users maintain privacy.
