Did Apple's Messages just kill WhatsApp?

In the WWDC 2016, Apple confirmed to revamp iMessange.

In its latest upgrade to iOS—iOS10, Apple has rolled out many features, but the significant one announced in the two-hour keynote at the WWDC was for the iMessage.

Apple is revamping iMessage, the company has included more emojis in its chat application, and that’s not it, when written a word, the app will prompt the user to emojify the typed word (love, pizza, or home).

The iMessage will feature rich links inline, meaning the users can stream a video or can play music from within the chat application, without landing onto another app.

There are animated effects—like balloons, confetti, and fireworks. There’s also a feature dubbed ‘invisible ink’ that the recipients can only read after swiping over it.

In addition, the users can add effects to the text in the bubble, or can text in their own handwriting.

Lastly, Apple has opened up a platform for developers also, allowing them to create various ways for users to converse in a thread. The users can also make payments or can schedule dinner or a movie using iMessage.

Turning iMessage into somekind of WhatsApp-Snapchat-Facebook messenger mixture, a move Apple certainly needed to make to be in the game.
