Hyderabad: As there is no control and monitoring on the issue of SIM cards, notices will be served to the mobile service providers and to the agents who issued SIM cards in bulk quantities without proper verification. Cyberabad Police Commissioner, Mr. Sajjanar said notices will be served to Idea, Vodafone and Tata Docomo managements for lapses in issuing SIM cards. The suspects in a recent case had revealed to cops that they obtained pre-activated sim cards from agents for as less as Rs 20 per card with a maximum of Rs 100 on some occasions.
Mr Sajjanar said that this was a serious concern. If these pre-activated cards were so easily accessible to any person to be used in any anti national activities, it could turn out to be a bigger threat. “We may call for a meeting with all mobile service providers and sensitize them on some issues which are very important while issuing or activating a SIM card,” he said.
