Yahoo Mail gets caller ID, photo upload
Yahoo has announced two new updates to Yahoo Mail app which will help users to identify the caller from their email contact list and also access their phone camera roll on their desktop.
The Caller ID feature will show you who’s calling, even if the number isn’t saved in your phone by using contact information from the user’s emails. Yahoo Mail will update names in your call history or when you dial.
To enable this feature on an iPhone (iOS 10 and above), user will need to go to Settings > Phone > Call Blocking & Identification, toggle the switch for Yahoo Mail.
With the new photo upload feature, users’ camera roll photos will be instantly available when accessing your Yahoo Mail account on desktop. You’ll also be able to search your mobile photos easily in the sidebar thanks to Yahoo’s image recognition technology. For example: searching for "beach", "ocean", or "snow" will pull up relevant photos from your recent trips.
To enable this feature user will need to open the Yahoo Mail app on iOS or Android, go to Settings > Photo upload, and tap the “Upload photos” toggle.
These photos are only visible to you and the people you decide to send them to. Additionally, you can remove any photo directly from Yahoo Mail without affecting your camera roll.
The new features are now available in both App Store and Google Play.
