Sony Xperia XZ Premium update fixes camera issues, comes with November security patch

The new update is pushed OTA (over the air) worldwide, but it might take several days to reach all devices, so be patient.

Despite the trend of trimming the bezels these days, Sony’s flagship Xperia XZ Premium follows the tried and tested Omni-balance design and it does look gorgeous in person. Sony’s struggles over the years in the mobile space are apparent, Still, they have been one of the more robust OEMs as far as software updates are concerned.

The Xperia XZ Premium was the first Sony smartphone to have received the Android 8.0 Oreo update which also fixed distortion issues with the Motion Eye Camera. However, some users having the dual-SIM variant of the phone complained, that post update, RGBC-IR and ToF (Laser AF) sensors were not working as they should. The resulting images suffered from blur and some feature like 3D creator not working.

Sony quickly took note of it and has released a new firmware for XZ Premium, moving it from build number 47.1.A.3.254 to version 47.1.A.5.51. This firmware not only fixes the camera issue but also contains the November Android security patch.

The new update is pushed OTA (over the air) worldwide, but it might take several days to reach all devices, so be patient.
