Essential's 360 Camera can now broadcast live 360 videos on Facebook

Back in May, when the Essential phone was launched, Andy Rubin, Essential’s co-founder and ‘Father of Android’ promised that this phone will change the way we take selfies. His assertion was based on the optional 360 camera module which could be used in conjunction with the phone to capture 360 images and videos.

The Essential phone got a major camera update last month which improved upon the camera speed, low light performance, and the 360 videos capture.

Another announcement came where the US-based start-up promised that customers who bought its 360 Camera module will finally be able to broadcast Facebook Live 360 directly from their Essential Phone. It was expected that the feature will roll out soon.

They have finally released an update to their 360 Camera, which now features an option to start a Live 360 broadcast on Facebook. One needs to simply connect the camera to the Essential Phone and tap the 360° live option or swipe left to select it.

Then, click on the “Live” camera icon, log in to Facebook account and allow permissions for the Camera. The user can then choose who you want to see your stream (Friends, Friends of Friends, Public, or Only Me).

Users can also add a description so that those who want to watch know what to expect. Finally, tap the red “Live” camera icon to start the stream. The Stop button will allow you to stop the live stream whenever you want.

One can also share your 360-degrees photos and video on social media, including YouTube and Vimeo directly. On other platforms like Instagram which doesn’t support 360 content yet, you can convert the image into a ‘flat-image’ and upload it. As far as Twitter is concerned, it is promised that the 360 content support will roll out soon via Periscope.
