Paytm announces a new feature to help discover Paytm-ready merchants
Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently announced the demonetisation of 500 and 1000 rupees notes. Much ruckus has been caused ever since wherein people are struggling to get used to limited cash. In times like these, electronic currency is being given increasing importance.
In a similar attempt, Paytm announced a new ‘Nearby’ feature that is set to help users discover merchants that accept Paytm wallet. This feature will carry a directory of over 8 lakh Paytm’s offline merchants and partners across the country. Over 2 lakh merchants are already included in the first phase.
Users can now browse through a list of shops and locations near them on their Paytm app and website that offer services like accepting Paytm, adding cash to Paytm wallet and upgrading accounts by doing KYC.
‘At Paytm, our approach has always been to build an ecosystem that benefits both merchants and customers,’ said Sonia Dhawan, DGM, Paytm in a statement.
‘I am confident that while our customers will appreciate the increased convenience of finding Paytm services near them, our merchants and partners will value the exponential increase in visibility and new business ‘Nearby’ feature will bring. This is a great example of how mobile technology can drive business across the retail industry by redefining the hyper-local space,’ she added.
