Ubisoft has built the Trials franchise into one of the most successful ‘fun’ franchises in the racing genre however it got to a point where it was a bit repetitive. The latest addition to the lineup is Trials Rising.
Similar to previous games, Trials Rising is a physics-based motorbike racing game that focuses on over-the-top ridiculous courses that must be completed with a lot of finesse and careful maneuvering of your bike. So, if you are familiar with the series, a lot hasn’t changed and you will feel right at home as you face its many challenging tracks. Trials games are based on trial and error as you try to finish the unique challenges present in any course in the fastest way possible.
Each course is a puzzle, that makes you use various techniques that can only be perfected with practice. But there is no better feeling than overcoming a challenge that had been giving you trouble for the past dozens of tries. While the gameplay is relatively easy to understand, it is very difficult to master.
The tracks in Trials Rising are some of the best in the whole series. There is a grander sense of scale that adds to the excitement of unlocking each track, and there are unique set pieces littered across all of them that make each new course a joy to play through. You will be racing against three ghosts of other players to give you a better sense of where you stand. You now select the track on a world map and can earn bonus xp by completing contracts that are unique to the level. Here, you can also go to the University of Trials which lets you play several courses geared towards a specific game mechanic. This is the best way to learn the depth of its gameplay which will undeniably be required to finish some of the harder courses.
Much like previous games, user generated content forms the backbone of Trials Rising and that is where you will spend a large portion of your time. The Trials community is one of the most active in the world and there are some amazing tracks out there for you to check out.
Trials Rising offers the best tracks in the series, and it doesn’t necessarily need more to be a good game. Whether you are grinding to unlock new tracks or playing with friends, Trials Rising is always fun no matter if you fail or succeed.
