This BlackBerry app blocks everything on the smartphone's display

BlackBerry recently updated its Hub+ suite of Android apps.

BlackBerry recently added a new app called Privacy Shade to its Hub+ suite of Android apps. The app apparently blocks everything on the smartphone’s display with the aim to allow users to control the visibility of sensitive content. The display is only visible when reading or typing in.

Users have the option of adjusting the transparency of the shade on the basis of the surrounding environment.

“Privacy Shade will let you read emails, messages and personal content at any time without worrying about snoopers, even if someone if looking over your shoulder. The app allows you to view private information in public places — like on the train or in a restaurant — by obscuring the parts of the screen that you’re not actively viewing or using, while still allowing you to interact with the obscured parts,” read the description of the app.

The app is functional on smartphones that run on Android 7.0 Nougat OS. While the app is not available on Google Play Store yet, there are reports that suggest that it will be in the coming days.
