Twitter boosts GIF file size limit to 15MB
Mumbai: In an attempt to make Twitter a more immersive and fun platform, the company has now enhanced the Graphics interchange format (GIF) which was incorporated to the platform in 2014.
From now on, users can upload larger GIF files up to 15MB as compared to the previous size of 5MB. The new feature, however, is only applicable on the web version; mobile apps and TweetDeck are still stuck with the previously allotted limit.
With so much happening on social media platforms, it is a good move by the company to give users more freedom to upload GIF files, which are largely in circulation these days.
Additionally, with the inception of fun websites such as 9GAG, Reddit, Imgur, Bored Panda and more, the adoption roofs have increased significantly.
Well, it seems that image sharing will soon become a thing of the past as people are now more inclined towards more interactive content. GIFs are also more size-efficient than videos and serve the purpose to some extent.
For instance, GIFs are the best when you have to show a movie clipping or a funny animation with your friend; small in size and serves the purpose as well.
Another major impact of this not-so-interesting update is the fact that people will be able to save more data, which is primarily important in a country like India.
