WhatsApp to add new GIF option to its platform

According to WaBetaInfo, the app will soon allow users to download GIFs directly in its chat.

Facebook-owned WhatsApp is amongst the most popular chatting apps in the market at the moment. The company understands its responsibility of delivering new and timely features and thus, is always at it when it comes to getting their chatting platform improved. In a similar effort, WhatsApp is reportedly working on a new feature that will allow its users to download GIFs directly in its chat.

According to WaBetaInfo (@wabetainfo), which essentially keeps track of all the changes made to WhatsApp’s beta, has tweeted that the app will soon allow users to download GIFs directly in its chat. WaBetaInfo even tweeted an image that shows a beta build (version 2.17.123) of WhatsApp on Android that highlights the latest feature.

At the moment, while WhatsApp includes GIF support, users are required to open the GIF link in a mobile browser in order to view it. However – post the rumoured update – users will be able to view GIFs directly in the app by simply clicking on the ‘Tap to download’ option.
