Facebook adds group payment option in Messenger

Facebook first introduced the person-to-person payment option on Messenger in 2015

Until now Facebook supported person-to-person payments only between two people on Messenger, but from today the firm is expanding the support to groups as well.

The upgrade allows individuals in groups to pay either everyone in the group chats or an individual in the group through a click of payments icon ($).

The payment icon ($) could be find by simply tapping on the plus sign in the bottom left hand corner of a group conversation. After clicking on ‘$,’ the feature ask user to choose who to send or request money from. You can choose everyone in the group or only a few members. Enter the amount you want to request per person or the total sum to divide evenly, either including yourself in the calculation or not. Finally, you can specify what the money is for.

To keep track of everything, a message will appear in the group conversation showing who has paid. At any time, you can also view the Request Details in full-screen. Coordinating group payments has never been easier.

For now the Messenger group payment is available in the US, while it is expected to roll out anytime soon in other countries.
