Facebook testing new feature to boost conversations

The feature is currently being tested alongside its new feed algorithm, which Facebook claimed, will bring more informative content.

Facebook’s mission to improve user experience and get more users on its board is far from over. The company has been innovating features on its platform to enable better and easier ways to communicate.

Now the company is working on testing a new Twitter-like feature to boost conversations. The new feature, dubbed ‘What friends are talking about’, is currently in testing phase and tries to increase the frequency of conversations between users and their friends.

The feature primarily records information from recent posts from friends and subsequently places them at the top of a user’s news feed; this allows you to see the comments each post has received.

According to Android headlines, the new feature is similar to Twitter where content from people with high interaction rate will appear more on top of the timeline. The new feature also doesn’t occupy too much space on top.

The feature is currently being tested alongside its new feed algorithm, which Facebook claimed, will bring more informative content. Apart from that, Facebook is working significantly hard on their new messenger platform and also improving video playback for assisting businesses interact better with customers.

Although there is no concrete evidence about the future of this new feature and it is also unclear which users may appear at the top of the feed; however, it seems the messenger app will play an important role in deciding who will appear most on your news feed.

Also, info from WhatsApp will now be shared with Facebook’s family, which will allow the company to utilise communication data from the instant messaging app as well.
