After making his robot winner, 16-year-old off to US
Bengaluru: Sixteen-year-old Apramaya, a student of National School, a government-aided school, emerged as the winner of a national level Robotics Championship.
The competition involved challenging other robots to reach a bottle, which was the goal. Apramaya's robot reached first and was declared the winner of the competition.
With three months of rigorous training under his master, ‘Mr. Khan’, Apramaya says he was positive that he will win the competition.
"Following this win, I have been given a chance to go to the United States Of America for another competition. My school gave me Rs. 5000/- and for the rest, my father took a loan from a friend for me to pursue this trip," says Apramaya.
Apramaya's robot consists of powerful motors and engines. He said he made it specifically for the competition as the event required robots that could move fast. He generally makes robots that help transfer things from one place to another.
He said that the materials were provided by the people who hosted the competition and that he is very interested in robotics and plans on making a future with that.
Mr. Khan is his robotics training teacher. He came to India 5 years ago, to teach robotics to international schools because it is an expensive subject. He then decided to expand his horizon by teaching government schools for free.
"I can make many types of interesting robots that perform different tasks and make human life easy," he says.
