Over 40 teams from across the country took part in the competition and provided solutions to traffic issues.

A group of CSE students from VNR Vignana Jyothi Institute of Engineering and Technology were the first runner-up at the Smart India Hackathon 2018. Over 40 teams from across the country took part in the competition and provided solutions to traffic issues.

Team InTraMS — comprising Harshavardhan Pendyala, Madapathi Vaisrav, Mohammed Arshaque, Devarapally Sowmya Reddy, Narala Akhil Reddy, Mamidala Mahesh — stood as winners for the problem statement presented by the Government of Telangana to create an Intelligent Traffic Management System. Named “Traficolus”, the proposed solution was to manage traffic signalling through computer vision by monitoring the lane occupancy real-time.

12 teams were shortlisted after three interim judgements at the grand finale, and a comprehensive judgement chose three winners, who were presented cash prizes of Rs 1 lakh, Rs 75,000, and Rs 50,000 respectively and three teams won a token of appreciation each worth Rs 10,000.
