Google has announced its Google Pay service at the CES 2018. The company aims to simplify the process of making mobile payments. The new service will bring all of Google’s mobile payment services including Android Pay and Google Wallet under a single app.
"With Google Pay, it'll be easier for you to use the payment information saved to your Google Account, so you can speed through checkout with peace of mind," states Google's official blog. "Over the coming weeks, you'll see Google Pay online, in-store, and across Google products, as well as when you're paying friends."
With Google Pay, the company aims to make mobile payments less confusing. Whenever users make a purchase from Google or from any of its partners, they will see an option for Google Pay. All the details of user’s Android Pay and Google Wallet will automatically be synced to their Google Pay account.
For now, the service will only be available in the West, and the company seems to have no plans of bringing the service sub-continent shores anytime soon. For the Indian market, the company launched the Tez UPI-based app for mobile payments. The reason for not bringing Android Pay to India was the lack of people using credit cards as well as NFC-supported smartphones.
Available for both Android and iOS (Apple phone) users, Tez allows users to make payments straight from their bank accounts. The app supports more than 50 banks to boot. Unlike Paytm, Google Tez doesn’t stack money within the app. Users get a transfer limit up to Rs 1,00,000 and make up to 20 transfers each day.
