ENRG VR Studio review: VR the world!
Virtual Reality headsets have been around throughout 2016 -- but there wasn't much you could do with them. There was limited VR content out there. And the headsets came in a very price band from nearly half a lakh rupees for the high end Oculus Rift, to less than Rs 400 for the Google Cardboard. But things have changed dramatically in recent months. Today, if you search for VR video at YouTube you will find 7 million or more choices.
So clearly, there's no dearth of VR things to watch. It makes sense, therefore to have a VR headset handy. Pretty soon we are going to get short VR or 360 degree sequences in movies and we can watch them through our mobile phones. We would recommend, going for a slightly better set than the sub-Rs 500 basic models, because wearing a headset is not exactly comfortable - and a soft and light model costs a bit more.
The VR Studio headset from Delhi-based ENRG is one of the more comfortable fits we have tried out. Like most models it works with smart phones from 4.7 inches to 6 inches in size, but has a few additional features which are useful: In addition to the focus control for the 35 mm lenses, there is a useful control to make fine adjustments so that the lenses adjust to the distance between your eyes and you can enjoy the full 120 degree field of view.
Another useful feature is that the ear pads are full-fledged head phones: there is a small cable that plugs into the audio jack of the phone you have inserted, to transfer the handset's audio to the VR headset. You can then use the volume control on the VR headset and also take incoming calls. The ENRG VR Studio is currently available for Rs 2990, a 25 percent discount over the MRP and a good deal at the price
