It's been a while since we’ve been hearing rumours about the upcoming iPhone. The device has been speculated in almost every possible way. But according to the latest report, the Cupertino based technology giant will be joining hands with the German optics manufacturer, Carl Zeiss to bring the augmented reality glasses.

According to tech evangelist Robert Scoble, the project could be announced early this year, was confirmed by a Zeiss employee. Apple CEO Tim Cook believes that AR has bigger possibilities than VR, since AR includes more user involvement.

Currently, Pokemon Go is best example for AR, where Pokemons appear on users screen amid the streets or parks they’re exploring.

Apple has already filed several patents for AR with the US Patent and Trademark Office. In 2014, company’s patent application called ‘Transparent electronic device’ was published. The patent was envisioned to be a way of overlaying images over real-world viewable objects.
