Share or sell on Facebook
Now people don’t just ‘share’ opinions on Facebook, they can buy and sell stuff. The week started with Facebook opening a new virtual ‘Marketplace’ so that users can look for the goodies they need and find buyers for things they like to exchange for money within their communities.
“In recent years more people have been using Facebook to connect in another way: buying and selling with each other. This activity started in Facebook Groups and has grown substantially. More than 450 million people visit buy and sell groups each month — from families in a local neighborhood to collectors around the world. To help people make more of these connections, we’re introducing Marketplace,” Facebook writes on its official blog.
Tap on the shop icon at the bottom of the Facebook app and you are ready to shop. If you are a seller, follow these simple steps: Take a photo of your item, enter product name, description and price, confirm the location, select the category and post.
People from the area of the seller will be able to find the product and enter into the deal. On iOS and Android platforms, the service is currently available in four countries — the US, UK, Australia and New Zealand.
