SeaBubbles, the future water taxi service
Windsurfers, Alain Thebault and Anders Bringdal started a company approximately seven months ago with the aim to revolutionize waterborne transportation through sustainable shuttles. They called it SeaBubbles and with a goal of raising funds for this project, they ventured out in search for those who felt positively about their project.
They have already raised approximately $500,000 and the founders hope to unveil SeaBubbles’ first prototype at the CES event next year.
‘Most big Cities have a river running through it or they are based on the ocean front. Cities are trying to decrease the pollution,’ a post on the official website read. ‘Our Vision for the Bubbles is to be a fun green mode of transport that answers the needs in the ever-congested public transport systems around the globe.’
The electrically-powered SeaBubbles will be built using fibre glass and high density foam with linen interiors. The shuttle will be able to transport up to 5 passengers excluding the driver. There will be specially designed docks installed on primary locations in order to serve as charging stations. The shuttle will be able to travel as fast as 30mph in water. Users can hail the taxi service just like they do with Uber – through the use of the app.
The founders are hoping to make the taxi service available by Summer next year.
